Geothermal Energy in the Heart of the Rockies was a presentation introducing the subject of geothermal energy, delivered at the Salida Sustainability Summit in Salida, Colorado on October 15, 2009. The meeting was held at the Salida SteamPlant and provided an open forum for the general public to learn and ask questions about geothermal energy, including such topics as What is a geothermal power plant?, What is required for one to be installed? and Why here in Chaffee County?

Research and Development in Geothermal Exploration and Drilling The Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) was asked to address the research and development needs in geothermal exploration and drilling during the Geothermal Power Summit, held in Westminster, CO in 2009. This report provides an introduction to several geothermal exploration and drilling technologies and their corresponding R&D needs.

Green Jobs Through Geothermal Energy
In this report, the Geothermal Energy Association addresses the questions of where, when, and how many jobs will a new geothermal power plant create?, by breaking down the numbers that the industry uses in job generation statements. By the end of this 22-page report, you will have a clear picture of the hundreds of people “whose jobs are involved in a typical geothermal project”.

Klamath and Lake County, Oregon Geothermal Agricultural Industrial Park This final report details a Department of Energy-funded project in Klamath and Lake counties, Oregon to provide industries with the opportunity to develop abundant geothermal resources in rural-distressed areas. “Through the greenhouse and aquaculture industry alone, millions of megawatts of power are saved each year through the use of geothermal energy”.
